I’m Paul R. Jorgensen and this is my professional site. I started working in the field that became cybersecurity in 1996, working for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) primarily supporting General Motors (GM).

Since then, I’ve run global network operations and security for the global auto supplier Magna International, was a senior consulting security architect with Hewlett-Packard (HP), and most recently was a senior managing consultant with IBM.

I lived in Japan for three years with IBM Japan. I’ve worked with customers in South Korea, China, Mexico, the U.K., Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Austria, Canada, and the U.S., among others.

I supported Fortune 100 companies, primarily in the financial services, industrial, and public sectors.

I’ve managed globally distributed teams, lead customer engagements from global corporations to local energy utilities, and was an individual contributor in retail engagements.

While my focus with IBM was in threat management, detection & response, I worked on compliance engagements and helped with penetration testing and red teaming and other work as needed.

I started blogging in the late 1990s, though I played around with on-line journals as far back at 1991. My real start was on the old @Home Network via Charter before it was consumed by Comcast and the service shut down. I ran my own web server for a while. I moved to Dreamhost in 2009, which remained my on-line home until 2024.

While I still retail backups of all of that, I’m not sure if I’ll restore it anytime soon.
